ADV Training Tour

For many riders, the best way to learn is through the real life experience of immersion training. This training tour is a low rider/high staff experience that walks you through a step-by-step training experience, exposing you to the most common terrain features found in North American backcountry adventures.

Starting at simple level 1 terrain features https://www.brettkacs.com/adv-skill-rating-system/ you will gradually be exposed to terrain features as high as level 3 - or potentially level 4, depending on trail conditions and weather, but don't let that bother you, that's why you are coming to us. The systematic approach that Bret, Paul and Christina walk you through will elevate your skill and competency at a rate that is rapid but also in a way that minimizes the risk of crashing or injuring yourself. This is not a classroom or training field; this training is conducted in the real world where we have to closely monitor and manage risk so that nobody gets hurt.

The target audience is the beginner and intermediate ADV rider. If you have the will, desire and time we can change your world. But to ensure your safety and success, we require you have light experience riding on simple level 1 or 2 roads, and you must be in good physical health. Age, gender, size or height are not a concern, only your ability to learn, maintain a clear mind, and handle the endurance of long days. The rest is up to us as your instructors.

Due to the distances between cities in the Cascade mountain range, it is common to spend as much as 10 hours in a day on the bike during the first two days. The third day is normally only 6-8 hours long.

A support truck is with us the entire first day (training day) to bring us water, snacks and carry our lunches to a waterfall where we will rest before continuing to the highlight of the day: the lookout at Three Corner Rock. For riders not ready to challenge the final rocky ascent to Three Corner Rock, there is an option to stage the bikes and ride in the support truck for the final stretch.

The next two days will be traveling along parts of the Washington Backcountry Discovery Route as a mobile workshop. Included with your riding skills training will be navigation skills and terrain reading. Weather, seasonal fires and rider skill will dictate the route for the final day but it will always end in an epic experience.
